Extending a Stone Coach House in a Somerset Village

The owners of this unusual and extensive property were missing a living area in their current configuration. This was the perfect opportunity for the customers to create both a functional living space and a master bedroom, complete with Juliet balcony, to take advantage of the stunning views over the rolling Somerset hills.

Our team revelled in the challenge presented in extending this old stone coach house. The on-site challenges included the requirement for piled foundations due to the proximity of the new structure to a large oak tree; tying back into an old timber-trussed slate roof and a complex steel design on the new structure to hold up the vaulted ceiling detail.

This is a project we take particular pride in, because of the technical challenges, and the high quality of the finish required. However the greatest pride is taken from how much the customer has enjoyed living in their new space since completion. We have been employed on smaller projects since completion, which shows how happy with the results the customers were.
